Below are the 7 stages of the American Revolution:
1 |
Normal
This was the normal state, when it was still the King of Britain in which was in power before the revolution had begun. |
2 |
Criticism of Existing Regime
There were noticeable traces of criticism of existing regime. One famously being Thomas Paine's book "Common Sense" as well as the first Continental Congress uniting to criticize the King. |
3 |
Widespread Dissatisfaction
The widespread dissatisfaction are also the key events that triggered the revolution. This includes the Boston Tea Party and other protests by the colonists. These protests did not only involve the wealthy men, others who criticized the British also joined in. |
4 |
Transfer of Power
At this stage, those who supported the movement gained power and changes begin to occur. The Declaration of Independence took place and declaration of the colonies independence immediately set the founding fathers in power. |
5 |
Civil War
This is the stage when there is war between the old and the new regime. This is when the Revolutionary war began. Britain and loyalists fight against those who are longing for independence and freedom in the colonies, and were seen as rebels to the British. |
6 |
Reign of Terror
In this stage, a formal reign of terror in the American Revolution did not exist. However, colonists attacked and killed loyalists prior to and during the revolution, which is something common in a revolutionary war. |
7 |
Thermidorian Reaction
The recovery stage of a revolution, where things start to get back to normal. This is also when George Washington gains power, becomes president and the country returns to peace. |
