What is the American Revolution?
The American Revolution took place during 1775-1783. There were a series of events that occurred during the American Revolution. There were many conflict triggers that grew tensions between the residents of the thirteen American colonies and the British colonial government. There were stresses building between colonists and the British authorities, one of them being the British government taxing the colonies in order to raise revenue. Some of the main events include: The Stamp Act during 1765, the Townshend Tariffs during 1767, and the Tea Act during 1773. These events were one of the largest triggers that sparked the revolution. Furthermore, there were fights between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord during April, 1775.
France also entered the American Revolution during 1778, supporting the side of colonists. After the assistance from France who also helped the British surrender, Americans won their independence in 1779 while the proper fighting and disgruntlement of the people ended in 1783.
